a long, long time ago...the potamides lived happily in the Great River. Ismenis was one of them, as fierce a champion of young women as the others of her kind. in particular, she adored the young queens of her kingdom, delighting when they came to enjoy the tributary she guarded.
but seasons change...and with the passing of the queens, Ismenis allowed herself to fade as well into old age, the way naiads do. she opened her eyes again in life, by the Lion's blessing, in a world she didn't know--but in which she was needed.
